Great book for determining proper application of electronic components for specific engineering purposes. Not for SMD's but for all discrete components. Invaluable if you need a source with more experience than you can obtain from peers.

Good manual for component engineers

It's not as up to date as we would have liked, but this book does provide a good knowledge base for junior level component engineers. Entry level engineers might also find this book useful for understanding component selection.
