A Nice and Quick Easy Read

I didn’t have extremely high expectations going into Taking Chances because I have never read anything by M. Andrews before, however I did win a paperback copy of her debut novel that I’m really excited to get to.

I went into Taking Chances for a light, quick and easy read and it most definitely was a light, quick and easy read.

The concept of Taking Chances was a bit clich� (the whole falling for your boss thing). I did like the idea of an actor falling for his publicist.

I did find the story was a bit too rushed and I felt like it didn’t have enough time to build so that I could believe that the romance was real. I felt like a little more of a backstory would have made this a five star novella for me.

The characters in Taking Chances are Nina and Jason. At times, I couldn’t separate their point of views because they sounded a bit the same. I did like Nina better than Jason however. I didn’t think the characters grew a whole lot in the little time we had them but there is another part to this novella coming soon so I think that may help me love these characters.

I have seen on M. Andrews’ Instagram that she is working on the second part of the novella and I plan on checking it out. I wasn’t entirely impressed with this one, I definitely see potential in M. Andrews and I plan on reading more of her work.

Best short story I've ever read

This is a short story that will make you feel as satisfied as you would having read a 400 page novel.

This story was so great. I was hooked the second I started reading and couldn't put it down until I read every last word. That is what M. Andrews does to you. I was completely engrossed in Jason and Nina's story and relationship and when it ended I could not have been any happier with the end result. For something so short I was amazed at the fact that it felt so complete with enough background information and story to not leave me dying for more. I mean, I would be happy to read more of these two amazing characters, but I don't need another story from them. Nina is a feisty assistant for Jason, a big Hollywood star. I like that she doesn't take his crap and puts him in his place. She is a strong character. I liked that there was no drama between the two despite Jason having been a complete manwhore who all of a sudden changes somewhat overnight and wants Nina permanently despite their working relationship. OMG it was so perfect and hot seeing them take a chance on one another despite their unfortunate situation.

This book will not leave you disappointed. I highly recommend it.

hot and an awesome hot fast read

OMFG this book was hot!!! I didn't realize it was a novella so this book was hot, sexy, hot and an awesome hot fast read. Did I mention it was HOTT??!! Jason is a smooth dirty talker. Once he has made a decision about Nina he doesn't hold back and I love it. Once you make the decision to go for something that you want and have been wanting for a long time then why should you? I LOVE Nina!!! She is a major smart-ass and the way she kicked the bimbo out of Jason's room was priceless!!! I was so happy that Nina also decided to give in and let things happen with Jason. She trusted him 100% and it showed and she let herself go and be herself and embrace it all. The sex was hot and panty melting! I just really wish this book was longer because I wasn't ready for it to be over! I want more of Jason and Nina and I want more of their story! Maybe we will get more of them in the other books to come in this series!

You haven't read this yet then you need to do ASAP. If you love The Big Gamble then you need to read this!!!! Wonderful!!

Prior to starting Intigma, Kirit spent four years in Deloitte Consulting as a Manager, where he consulted with F-500 companies and implemented Supply Chain Optimization and eProcurement solutions. Prior to Deloitte, Kirit spend 6 years in National Instruments as a Dir. Design Engineer, where he developed cutting edge products for the test and measurement industry. He is credited with designing the smallest data acquisition PC card for the T&M industry in 1995. Kirit has published numerous papers in scientific and business journals and is a sought-after speaker at investor and industry forums. In 2006, he was given the Pro to Know award by Supply and Demand Chain Magazine. Kirit holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, an M.S in Electrical Engineering, as well as M.B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin.

Dr. Haralambos Marmanis is Director of Research, and chief architect of Emptoris Spend Analysis and Compliance Applications. Emptoris was, in 2004, the recipient of the INFORMS Franz Edelman award; Dr. Marmanis received also the Sigma Xi Outstanding Research Award, and his work was on the cover page of Visualization '99 and the Centennial volume of IEEE. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, a M.Sc. degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessalonica. Dr. Marmanis is the author of numerous publications in peer reviewed international scientific journals, conferences, as well as technical periodicals.

I recently had the good fortune to read Phil Capelle's book "Play Your Best Pool." Until I read it, I hadn't been a proponent of self-help pocket billiards books, but a strange thing happened as I got into this book - I started playing better. A strong part of my gains was in basics. Sometimes it is a good thing to get right down to the nitty gritty of stance, grip, stroke, etc., to be able to execute the more complex shots with consistency.

The book is well organized into chapters that detail strategies for shotmaking, position play, 8-ball and 9-ball. In addition, attention is taken with competitive play, mental pool, English, and practice strategies. Best Pool Book I Have Ever Purchased!!

I have purchased many pool books from Amazon. This book is the best book of all. This book will help anyone who wants to improve their game. You learn where the cue ball is going and how to alter it's path so you will have the correct position on your next shot. Correct position means the cue ball will always be on the correct side of the next ball so natural cue ball roll after the shot leads you to correct position on the following ball. It makes pool much easier and more fun to play. There is a section on advanced shot making. Most of these shots are within your current ability, you just haven't been exposed on how to do it. Always play position for the next three ball. You are shooting the 1-ball, you want position on the 2-ball that will naturally lead you correct position on the 3-ball.

All your past books in one...

The only bad thing about this book is that my league handicap went up by two balls before I even finished reading it! I own over 20 books and 30 videos; it's like Cappelle has read them all and condensed the information into one easy to comprehend and understandable book. IT'S GREAT! Maybe not for a beginner, but I can't imagine a better book on the subject. He covers all the bases: basics, shots, stragety, position, banks, kicks, theory, mental, drills, practical shots and practice tips. There are many good books; but this is perhaps the best and most well rounded overall one book I've been fortunate to read. I have only four comments: 1. It really improved my game physically and mentally 2. If I could keep only one book, about pool, this would be it! 3. I wish I had written it. 4. THANKS, Phil Cappelle

The Improving Players Best Resource

This book is essential material for all improving players. I have this book on my kindle(android phone) and those who don't know (bad review people unfamiliar with technology probably) should tap on the diagrams and images and expand them with two fingers for readability and viewing.
Everything from technical skill to the mental game and sports/hustling psychology is covered.
I have Play Your Best 9-ball in paperback, and there are more I want to see on Kindle(hurry up Phil!) that delve deeper into the skills and technical knowledge needed for 8-ball and 14.1 straight pool.
I teach pool casually but seriously and if there is something I need to recheck, this book is my first resource, and not just because I read it on my S4!

Ted Roche develops standalone, client-server and Web applications using Microsoft Visual FoxPro, Microsoft SourceSafe, SQL Server, and other best-of-breed tools. He is a principal in Ted Roche & Associates, LLC, in New Hampshire. He is the coauthor of the award-winning Hacker's Guide to Visual FoxPro 6.0 and a contributor to five other FoxPro books. In addition to authoring umerous magazine articles, he is a popular speaker at conferences worldwide. Ted is a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer, Microsoft Certified System Engineer, and seven-time winner of the Microsoft Support Most Valuable Professional award. Larry C. Whipple is senior technical architect at SeraNova, Inc. where he is in charge of the technology used in the Volkswagen of America web site. Severly lacking

Not worth the price tag. It does a fair job of listing the dialog boxes and explaining them, but so does the help. It also lists the command line switches, but again, so does the help. The so-called "Advanced Features" alluded to in the synopsis is 23 pages label "Beyond the basics" - the help has essentially the same material. One star is generous.

The nuts and bolts - truly exhaustive

Some authors would take advantage of the dearth of books on a particular topic, and simply "cash-in" by cranking out a one-of-a-kind title with anemic, poorly researched and incomplete content. Fortunately, Mr. Roche hasn't taken the easy way out, instead choosing to draw upon his own apparently extensive experience working on a daily basis with VSS, and delving into it's workings under-the-hood, exposing both how to make effective use of this invaluable tool, and traps that lurk for the unwary developer or project manager.
It's unfortunate that it has taken this long for a quality book on this subject to appear. Many thanks to Mr. Roche and his publisher for producing a reference that is my constant companion in configuring and using VSS in our shop.
I've known of many developers who have given up on using VSS in their shops, instead choosing to find other (often more costly and ineffective) methods of dealing with version control and trying to manage collaboration in multi-developer projects. This book could have allowed them to confidently deploy and implement a VSS installation.

Basic Sourcesafe

Whipple and Roche goe beyond the very limited Microsoft documentation. He actually explains real world applications and how SourceSafe works and doesn't work in a variety of situations. This is the manual that SourceSafe should have had. The addition of screenshots to give you a clear picture about what he is discussing is helpful. Why didn't MS do that? Because that would be user friendly. Don't get me wrong I love most of the stuff MS puts out, it's their documentation that stinks. Thank goodness for authors like Roche that put it in the proper perspective. If you are working with SourceSafe you will want this book. It may not give the tips that "Real World Software Configuration Management" does, but it has most of what you will need to administrate SourceSafe. I did expect a bit more for the price, but then books are just overpriced.
