This book is okay, but is NOT very in depth in terms of covering all of the content in detail covered on the Praxis. This exam is fairly difficult due to the amount of information covered, and another study source is required in addition to this book to attain a good score on the exam. I purchase a study guide from teaching solutions dot org / praxis II study guide and they mimic the actual test questions extremely well in content and language. The explanations to the answers are in-depth and insightful into how the test questions are constructed on the actual exam.

Such a waste of money. The study guide for 5622 is excellent, but 5017 dropped the ball. I take the tests soon and I ended up getting so much more from the practice tests and info provided on the Praxis website. Don't waste your money on this one.

A Classic to read many times

After the ideas introduced in "Think and Grow Rich", Napoleon Hill details the necessary steps that anyone can follow to achieve riches in life, that are not only financial. Dr. Hill refers to the 12 riches in life, where financial security occupies the 12th place.

Using a plain and conversational style, Napoleon Hill explains clearly the most important of the 17 principles of this philosophy. Principles that are available to any average person to implement and benefit from.

The book is full of details, stories and examples for better help in understanding the key concepts that, once embraced and used, will change your life forever.

As Dr. Hill says, not my merely reading the book you are going to profit from it. You have to start using these concepts right where you are and a new life will unfold in front of you.

As with all the Classics, I recommend keeping reading it periodically. So many concepts and ideas will escape to your attention after only one reading.

Valuable Insights into the Mind

If you are unfamiliar with Napoleon Hill. I think it is worth a quick "warning" that the material is getting to be nearly 100 years old, and the style is sometimes a bit dated. Additionally, like many self-help types, there is a touch of New Age influence and feel good platitudes. Why recommend it then? Very simply, I believe Hill has the formula right. Distilled down, his focus is on willpower, self-discipline and proper attitude. Truly what you think and truly believe you can achieve. He talks about the 8 princes (or angels, patron saints, or cosmic forces if you are New Agey) - like the Prince of Sound Health, or Sound Mind. He talks on the 12 true riches - shich as good health, prosperity and faith. But at the end of the day, the keys are willpower, self-discipline and proper attitude. Follow the philosophy and it will help attain those things - and free you to achieve great things.

Stylish Architecture

This book could be concidered a fun reference book. It has many photos and illustrations for each style. I like the unsual dimentions of the book. Each style is shown in photos, diagram, and words. The examples chosen for each style are not necessarily the ones that are commonly used in textbooks. If you are a budding architecture fan, I believe you will enjoy this book.

The Field Guide That Could Have Been

This is the most dissapointing of architectural field guides because it had the potential to have been the very best. John Poppeliers was the head of the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) and Allen Chambers was an historian with the Historic American Buildings Survey. Quite simply they had access to 51,000 sheets of measured drawings, 156,000 large format black and white photographs and over 20,000 reproductions of individual items. With all of that access, they could have produced the ultimate architectural field guide. Instead they produced a 146 page superficial guide.

The best aspect of this guide are the line drawings produced for the Historic American Building Survey. They are two dimensional drawings that are almost surgical in their precision. The building photographs are also first class.The narrative describing the different elements of the style is short and to the point.

The second edition of this book was published in 2003. In my opinion, if someone is going to introduce a new field guide into this already crowded arena, it has to offer something new. I would recommend sticking with the already proven field guides by Lester Walker, Rachel Carley, Carole Rifkind or Virginia McAllister.

This book is recommended for people with really short attention spans. This book is a dissapointment. Oh, what it could have been. One day, somebody from the HABS project will produce the ultimate architectural field guide.

A Sketchy Overview of American Architecture

This book is fine if you are looking only for a very brief look at American Architecture. It does not organize architectural styles to give a comprehensive overview of them. It does, however, present example photos of various styles with easy-to-read text briefly describing the styles. If you want a book that is handy and comprehensive, no other book can compare to A Field Guide to American Houses, by Virginia and Lee McAlester (ISBN 0-394-73969-8). This book will give you a comprehensive framework of the development of American Architecture so that you can build your understanding as you become exposed examples in the field. Everything from windows and doors to contruction techniques are covered. The book is organized in such a way that you can find what you need quickly. It is the cornerstone in the study of American Architecture.

It's in Latin

This is a production of a scanned copy of the original book and is all in Latin. So if you are not a Latin scholar, then you will not be able to read this. The advertising of the book does not make it clear that this is only in Latin. And the first customer review SEEMS to imply that it is in English by stating " I only wish there were MORE translations in English." Therefore I am unable to read this book and find that it is not profitable to anyone who is not fluent in Latin

I agree with the one star reviewer, but am glad that the editors went to the very great trouble of collecting Bede's authentic works, and that they were reprinted to make them available for today's readers...provided that they can read Latin. Only the preface is in English.

If you know someone who knows Latin, it would make a wonderful gift.

About the Author
Lindzee Armstrong met her match while attending the local university, although she was technically in high school at the time. She and Mr. Armstrong became engaged quickly, and fell in love even quicker. He wasn't a high school student, but still thoughtfully offered to take her to prom in her wedding dress. She declined. Wearing the wedding dress before the Big Day just seemed weird. A few years after getting married, they welcomed twin boys into the world.


Lindzee loves chick flicks, ice cream, and chocolate, like any true romantic. She believes in sigh-worthy kisses and happily ever afters.

Sweet YA novella

Cute and sweet novella. A clean YA romance to kick off a series. As novellas go, I thought it had a good plot and was a fun intro to characters that we'll get to follow in later books.

Love, Love, LOVE IT!

So, I signed up for a newsletter and ended up with a free book in a series by an author I know but hadn't read anything by yet. So what do I do first? Go through and see which book is first in the series and do I have it or not? Of course, I now have all (except the pre-order). So, with Doodle drawing a chalk picture on the chalkboard painted bar in our dining room and Scribble nestled in my arms, finally fast asleep, I open up my Google Play Books app and start reading.

Well, that was mid-morning. By evening, I had finished this book (it's only a 100-some page novella, to be fair). And the verdict? It. Was. Amazing! I got to the last page and just sat there staring at it. I couldn't believe it was over. And oh, did I ever crave more! If I didn't already own every one that's been published so far, I would have been on Amazon within seconds to get the next in the series. It's that addicting (well, and I might have a teensy book buying problem but shush, no one needs to know that!) Now, here I sit, anxiously writing my review so I can continue on with the series and not worry about giving any spoilers away!

Not a predictable romance

This quick read has all the elements of a great romance, and leaves you hungry for more. Brooke already heartbroken from the betrayals of her father meets Luke on the first day at her new school. Not wanting to be another one of his conquests, she resists his advances despite being increasingly attracted to him. And thus begins the will they won't they story. Brooke and Luke seem made for each other, despite being stuck in the friend zone. Armstrong does a great job bringing realistic characters to life in this fun novella. I can't wait to read more of Brooke and Luke's story.

Great companion for early sets!

After Set 2, we were looking for more practice before moving on. We did the Kindergarten sight words series and were about to hesitantly move on to Set 3 when the Rhyming Words set came out. Though this would probably be best between sets 1 and 2, it is a great way to reinforce the skills my daughter has learned before we get into more complex words. We love the BOB Books here and my daughter has really gone far with her reading!

I have all the bob book sets and this rhyming set would compliment set 2 (orange, advanced beginners) and beyond. My kids find it more fun to read when the words rhyme so this set is encouraging for them.

Working great after set 2

I am using the Bob series along with "Teaching your child to read in 100 easy lessons." Our routine is super effective- 10 minute lesson from "teaching...", read 1 new Bob book, then read one he's read before as a review. My five and a half year old (who is in half day pre-k) finished set 1 & 2, so now we are doing this series and kindergarten site words. I am glad to have this before starting set 3, which looks more advanced. Happy reading!
