Pretentious and very, very wrong in many respects.

First things first, I've gone through anorexia and am not yet recovered. My case left the doctors startled - at my worst I never ate more than fifty calories a day. Almost everything people warn you about concerning this particular disorder I have experienced first hand. Therefore, I know what I'm talking about.
This 'book' is a loose association of blog entries and text messages, hence I would have been quite happy to forgive the terrible writing. After all, it is supposedly written by a severely malnourished teenager. Yet the abhorrent story drags the whole concept down. Almost everything in the book is, quite frankly, rubbish. This is not the mind of an anorexic person, nor a person suffering from any kind of disorder. Words in the manner of 'wannabe' and 'fraud' leap to mind. The writer lacks empathy on a truly monumental scale.
The story as such is very short, has no sign of an actual plot and is just about as believable as a soap opera. There is no particular beginning, the end is nonexistent and the middle consists of very unconvincing thoughts/weight/diary entries. Otherwise, fantastic.
If you are suffering/recovering from an eating disorder or simply happen to know more about them in general than the average person, you will feel deeply insulted by the contents of this book.

Triggering

Personally i would characterised this book " pro-ana" .Anorexia is not something you choose.
This book can be Triggering to people that have gone through this .Also jenni ,the girl in the book often say " those fat jealous people" but the truth is that in anorexia you see your self fat not necessarily everyone else.

fast easy read but...

While I enjoyed the story, I felt like it ended abruptly and before the story was done. What happens next? Is there a resolution, or does her ED continue? What's treatment like? So many questions, and not a single answer. But at least it was an entertaining read.
