About the Author
Philip C. Kolin, the University Distinguished Professor of English at the University of Southern Mississippi for nearly 30 years, teaches courses in composition, business and technical writing, literature, and drama. He has served as editor of two major scholarly journals and as founding co-editor of STUDIES IN AMERICAN DRAMA (1945-present). He received the Conference of Learned Journals award for the best new journal. In addition, he was also named Southern Mississippi's first Distinguished Professor in the Humanities. Dr. Kolin has published almost 30 books and 200 scholarly articles covering a variety of subjects, including writing, drama, linguistics, and folklore. He also has written a book and articles on professional writing for nurses and lawyers and has conducted workshops on technical writing. He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University.

Terrible in general

This book is plain terrible. Most of the content is common sense... seems like they use too many words and put things into too much of lamense terms than necessary just to fill the pages. In fact you could skip many of the pages and instead read the section titles within the chapter and learn everything that is has to teach you quicker... which still isnt much. Its not all all interesting in the least, and I personally did not learn a thing from it, but when a teacher assigns a book you have to waste your momey to buy it. To anyone who has to buy this book, I am truely sorry.

Great resource for business writing

This book is extremely helpful. I purchased this edition since it was less expensive and provides the same information as the newer edition. The examples are very relevant and I follow their tips in my daily work. A must read for new members of the business world.

Incorrect listing

Great price. Unfortunately this was listed under 9th edition when I searched. When I received it, it's the 8th edition. I needed at least 9th or better for school...which starts in 4 days! Crap. How can I fix this?!
